music and video performance/installation, duration: 40 minutes
between soil and signal reimagines the atmosphere of oral tradition’s long-duration poetry singing in a non-diegetic format. Expanding poetry beyond language the performance is an interplay of immersive sound with cinematic and dynamic moving images crafting a scene that is part synthetic, part organic, fragile, and intimate. The work explores themes of creation, nature and desire by combining computer generated and filmed footage with field recordings, instrumental and electronic sounds, including data sonification from neural diaries and experiments on resilience of natural systems.
between soil and signal serves as a laboratory for the collective and individual imagination, reflecting on the ungovernable, ecology, and the libidinal. It resists rigid subjectivities, seeking connection, adventure, and resilience, unveiling the fluid essence of being by bridging myth, technology, tradition, and ecological awareness.
