What remains after disappearance, and how do we continue searching for what cannot be fully recovered?
In Jiejie, a filmmaker returns again and again to Berlin’s Tempelhofer Feld while waiting for her estranged sister. The vast former airfield becomes a place of wandering, reflection, and projection. Personal memory meets the layered histories embedded in the landscape. Beneath the open field lie traces of other pasts: a site shaped by war, forced labor, and acts of erasure whose stories can only be partially recovered.
As the filmmaker moves through the space, the search for her sister slowly begins to shift. The field, its silences, and its hidden histories start to mirror the filmmaker’s own interior landscape.
Blending observation and fiction, Jiejie unfolds as a meditation on absence, memory, and the fragile ways we attempt to reach those who are no longer within reach.
